let the games begin || movie

credit; edited by me
I know I'm a behind on watching this movie but I wanted to share my thought anyway.
Don't read on if you haven't read the books or watched the movie.

I read the books (the first two) last summer and was captivated right away. I finished Catching Fire in two nights. The Hunger Games was really good until the end. I was excited to see how everything would look which is why I went to see the movie.

I really like how they stayed very true to the book. They didn't add in random things to make the story more interesting. I loved the portrayal of The Capitol. The people were hilarious and ridiculous. It was just right.

What I liked and didn't like about the movie was that you didn't know what Katniss was thinking most fo the time. In the book she expresses her thoughts and feelings a lot. Since she is alone most of the time she thinks to herself a lot; not just about the games but also about Gale, her dad, her sister and mom, Peeta and the future. In the movie you don't get that which was a good and bad thing. Sometimes I found her thinking to be overwhelming when reading. You're spared of knowing what she's battling in her mind when you watch the movie.

I loved Katniss' face, hair and voice. Peeta wasn't as manly as I wanted him to be. Gale was just right. Haymitch should have been more haggard and drunk, but maybe that'll come out in the next movie. President Snow wasn't as round as I picture him. Cato was perfect. I loved Rue. I loved how real Cinna was portrayed by Lenny Kravitz.

There's so much more that could be said about the books and the movie, but I'll just keep it simple. The overall series was enjoyable and addicting.

    1. I think for his appearance I expected more of a stronger, manly looking man. I think it's the actor. I agree. He was more sensitive and keen in the book and I think the actor portrayed him well in that kind of way.
