National Grilled Cheese Day || food

Today is National Grilled Cheese Day! I'm not quite sure what these national days mean and how they come about, but I'm ok with it. Right now I'm eating a peanut butter grilled cheese sandwich. (I burnt it a bit as you can see) I decided to experiment and it's actually pretty good. Turns out I'm not the only one as I did a google search on this mix.

I grew up on grilled cheese sandwiches. My mom would always put a bit of brown sugar on the outside after it was grilled. It sounds so weird but it was SO good.

How do you like your grilled cheese sandwich?

visit the gorge || my life

Look at my hair! It's got that ombre effect to it... and I didn't do it on purpose.


Yesterday was such a lovely day. My friend Bethany has been in town visiting from Edmonton so we spent the day yesterday catching up and playing at Elora Gorge Conservation Park. It was so refreshing to sit outside and play in caves and water without any care in the world. I felt really young again running through the ice cold water and climbing up into muddy caves. 

Through my friendships with these girls, Amanda and Bethany, I've discovered that time and distance really doesn't matter. Even though I hadn't been with them for more than a year and a half we were able to pick up where we had left off. Days like yesterday remind me of how the simple, small things in life are the most beautiful things. 

If you live in Southern Ontario you have to visit Elora. It's such a cute small town and is right by the gorge. I remember swimming here as a kid and tubing down the WILD waters with my best friends. While we were in the gorge we wondered how high the waters were thousands and thousands of years ago. Every person that visits, whether it be once or many times, creates a personal memory and attachment to it. That's how it is for any place you go to. There's something special about revisiting places of the past.

Raised Us Up || faith

It's a day to be happy. It's a day to celebrate! Ephesians 2:1-10 really captures well the essence of Easter Sunday. 

It's amazing that through Jesus' resurrection I am raised up with Christ and even seated with him. Notice how it's all past tense? It's finished. It is done and it's a truth I need to constantly come into agreement with. However, I cannot be raised up without dying. Dying to ourselves; a process to go through for those who have decided to follow Christ. It's not an easy process. It's usually one that we go through begrudgingly with a lot of resistance. 

Why do I keep fighting what is good for me? When I'm unwilling to die I devalue the victory of Jesus. Everyday I must align my heart and spirit with the truth that I am with Christ, that Christ is in me and I am not in this world. Have I been rejecting the reality of heaven on earth and in my life? It's a total paradigm shift to realize that I'm in the heavenly realms with Christ. It's exciting and makes this life so much more worth living for.
