Everyone has their opinion of worship is. Worship goes beyond the music that's played for about 30 minutes at church. We know that. But this part of worship is SO significant to me. Worshipping with music that speaks to the soul has played a crucial role in the growth of my intimate relationship with the Lord.
Tomorrow is the 3 day Jesus Culture conference in NY. I'm super excited for this time of refreshing and renewal. I don't believe that anyone should depend on these kinds of conferences to be renewed, but there's also something special when you're with thousands of others worshipping the same god. I'm praying for a deeper encounter with the Lord and for my current status-quo-like faith to be shattered so that I can have faith to do and live the impossible. I want this time of worship to fashion my heart into a Deuteronomy 5:6 heart; a heart that loves freely.
What does worship mean to you? Does music play a significant role in your life and how you relate to God?
Deuteronomy 5:6
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might
Hannah!! Are you going to Jesus culture conference?
ReplyDeleteLucky you!
Hope you have a good time!
Worship is a boiling water if listening to sermon is putting the noodles to make ramen :)
Music "speaks" to me more than even a good sermon - don't know why, it just does! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave fun Hannah!
ReplyDeletei think worship conferences are so edifying. may you experience jesus intimately :)
ReplyDeletethis is a wonderful post! worship has always been a significant part of my quiet time . . . i think it's the way music penetrates my heart. i think God designed us to respond this way, so why not just give in to it?? and now that i'm married to a Christian music writer/musician, my appreciation has just grown . . .
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!
i second what courtney said! it's best to go into conferences not expecting some emotional life-changing experience coz that's usually short-lived, but to want to experience the Lord deeper.. well, then it's a wonderful chance to do so amongst a couple thousand of your new best friends. praying you have an amazing time. can't wait to read about it on here!
ReplyDeletemusic = life!!!
ReplyDeleteand music affects dopamine levels in your brain (your "happy" chemicals) ... that's why it's so powerful and has such an impact on your emotions.
Worship used to be when I felt most close to God, but I have grown spiritual and feel His presence more when I read His Word and help others/be with my church family.
